Eight year olds Kya McComb and Zoe Furness thrilled spectators with their riding skills at the inaugural Equator Cup at the weekend.

Showing calmness and control beyond their years, Kya and Zoe led their ponies to victory in the pre-novice category in Uganda’s first equestrian competition.

Riding ‘Bullrush’, Kya and Zoe, on Blackjack, were part of an entry of 30 riders from six countries in the two-day event at Flametree stables in Kijabijo, Gayaza.

The Lala Haidara, Sonja McLaughlan and Katie Bowser trio was also unmatched in the team chasers score.

They won with a 2100 score in an event that had a 1.10 meter fence as the highest barrier. This team went over this fence five times to emerge victorious.
