The organisers of the Makerere 10s Rugby Festival were on Saturday disappointed by the failure of league clubs to honour their invitation making the event a flop.

Benjamin Temper, one of the organisers told New Vision that failure of the rugby top sides (Heathens, Rhinos, Pirates, Buffaloes, Warriors, Mongers and Kobs) to honour such a tournament shows the lack of seriousness that Uganda sports managers exhibit.

“This shows how unserious we are yet we shall start crying that Uganda rugby is going to the dogs,” a frustrated Temper stated.

“We invited them though on short notice. But we had earlier communicated on an informal basis and they promised to participate. I am surprised that they didn’t, yet they would have used this tournament as preparation for the league,” Temper added.

Only Rams turned up and two ladies teams leaving the organisers with no option but to have the ladies’ game and then have touch rugby for fans before Xfm Impis faced Rams in the final game that the former won 24-3.

The tournament was sponsored by Security Group.
