After missing out last year, the Makerere Rugby 10s Festival returns on Saturday reloaded with the fans’ and ladies’ categories included on the programme at the Grave Yard ground in Makerere University.

Benjamin Temper, the Xfm Impis coach has vowed to win this year’s tournament which includes local teams only. Kisumu, Busia, Nakuru and 2012 winners Mwamba RFC, who are regular participants, were not invited due to financial constraints.

“We want to win this trophy as one step to rebuilding our team. We have been training and I am confident we shall win it,” Temper stated.

Temper has his hopes largely in star players Keith Sseruyange and Emma Echudu who feature on the national 7s side. Meanwhile, the event will have fans’ and ladies’ teams compete for the first time in the history of the event.

“Now that there are no foreign teams we are trying to make the event bigger and we shall include the women and fans,” Temper added.

The tournament sponsored by Security Group will feature local sides including, Heathens, Kobs, Pirates, Rhinos, Mutoni Warriors, Mongers and Stallions.
