The recruitment of 3,000 new UPDF soldiers has kicked off today. UPDF spokesperson Lt. Col. Paddy Ankunda has called upon Ugandans of at-least senior four qualifications and below to enroll.

The recruitment will be done at district level where each region would be represented.

“The recruitment exercise of the 3000 new UPDF soldiers kicks off today. S 4 is the maximum level of education needed,” Ankunda said.

The exercise is expected to beef up the defence forces whose capacity and professionalism has drove its demand in the region to the sky, especially in war-torn countries.

Uganda has deployed troops in Somalia, Central African Republic, South Sudan to among other things keep peace and also help the fragile states reconstruct their institutions for sustainable peace and stability.
