A UPDF soldier in Kasese shot himself dead on Christmas day following a brawl with his wife.

The Army 305 Brigade Spokesperson, Lt. Ninsiima Rwemijuma, confirmed on Boxing Day that Private Uziah Bwambale, attached to Kyanzukyi army detachment, shot himself dead at about 6.30 p.m. in his house on Christmas day.

“We had heard of his quarrel with his wife two weeks back. His Commander disarmed him. But after a week, he cooled down and we deployed him again. But on Christmas day, I received a call that Bwambale has shot himself dead”, Ninsiima said.

A 30-year old Bwambale is a born of Kitsutsu village of Kitsutsu parish in Munkunyu sub-county Kasese district. He is survived by two children and a wife with whom he had picked the quarrel which has claimed his life.

According to Ninsiima, Bwambale before shooting himself dead, had received a call from his wife informing him that she was no longer wife to him and that she had got another man to whom she was already married.

After receiving the call, Bwambale turned rowdy before his fellow soldiers and later told them that he wanted to go for a rest in his house.

But few minutes later, a bullet shot was heard from Bwambale’s house and on responding to it, the soldiers at the detachment found Bwambale already dead on his bed.

In a separate death ordeal, Rosette Musoki 22, resident of Kyasungwa village of Mubuku parish in Maliba sub-county Kasese district, was on Christmas night discovered dead in a bush between Karungibati and Mubuku Central forest reserve.

Police in Kasese confirmed that Musoki’s body was found with multiple cuts with signs that she could have been first gang raped by her assailants.

Kasese District Criminal Investigations Department Chief, Godwin Tumugumye said, “We have so far arrested six suspects including the deceased’s husband to help Police investigations into the murder”.

Kasese District Police Commander, Michael Sabila Musani said that on the fateful night, assailants attacked Musoki and her husband at their home and tied her husband on a chair with ropes taking away Musoki who was later found dead with multiple cuts on her body.

However, the DPC said that apart from the incidents, Kasese district has been peaceful during the Christmas festivals.
