DPP to decide on Nsereko, Baryomunsi fate

The files of MPs Mohammed Nsereko and Chris Baryomunsi are to be sent to the DPP, after which a decision will be made.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) will decide on the fate of MPs Mohammed Nsereko (Kampala Central) and Chris Baryomunsi (Kinkizi East) over comments made on the death of MP Cerinah Nebanda.

The youthful MP for Butaleja died under unclear circumstances, sparking off a flurry of public debate over her demise.

Nsereko and Baryomunsi remain hold up by police allegedly over comments they made on Cerinah’s death – that the Government had a hand in her controversial end.

“Both of them are still in our custody to help us with investigations. We have recorded statements from them,” Ssekatte had told New Vision Tuesday morning.

The files of the two arrested legislators are to be sent to the DPP, Police deputy Spokesperson Vicente Ssekatte has said. After scrutiny of their files, a decision will be made on whether to take them to court or not.

Nsereko was arrested on Monday after Police besieged his home in Old Kampala, before he later gave himself in.

His counterpart, Baryomunsi was also arrested the same day.
