The 2012 Sprint Championship has gone down to the wire with Duncan Mubiru, Ronald Ssebuguzi and Christakis Fitidis set to battle for the accolade at Garuga on Boxing Day.

Mubiru (Subaru N14) goes for the final race of the season leading with 30 points, just two ahead of Ssebuguzi (Mitsubishi Evo9) and a further two points clear of third placed Fitidis in a Subaru N 12.

While many fancy Mubiru’s chances in such short races, Jomayi Rally Team’s Ssebuguzi enjoys great form nowadays. Ssebuguzi goes for the decisive race buoyed by back-to-back victories in Race of Champions and Mbarara Motor Club sprints. But rule out old guards Fitidis and Wycliff Bukenya at your own peril.

Mubiru, Ssebuguzi, Bukenya and Fitidis who were all beaten to the national championship title by Jas Mangat seek to win this title as a consolation.

The Southern Motor Club organised event that has attracted over 30 crews, will see Ssebuguzi face off with Ponsiano Lwakataka (Subaru N8) and Wycliff Bukenya (Mitsubishi Evo9) tussle it out with Shafiq Ssemujju on the redesigned 5.2km Garuga double track circuit.

The sprint will be preceded by a non-championship motocross race that will get underway at 10:00am.
