Lugogo Cricket Oval was ablaze Friday night, all courtesy of Nigerian singing duo P-Square and their 11-man band!

First things first, this concert could have gunned an even larger crowd compared to the few thousands that were present if only it had been well marketed.

The event that was organized by Silverback Investments Limited – a new entrant in the business – started with an enormous amount of confusion. Party-goers that had paid sh75,000 expecting to get VIP seats were ‘bounced’ to what looked like a ‘general happiness’ venue.

Finally after a long wait, at exactly 9.30pm, the event’s Emcees, comedian Salvado and Kats took to the stage with a few jokes.

Then curtain-raisers went on next with what was mostly like a sleeping sedative, until Jose Chameleon hit the stage! Even the chubby VIP revellers, who piled food in their mouths whilst pretending not to be moved, were forced onto their feet.

But trust Chameleon to start lamenting: “I know this is a P-Square concert but I want my mic on!”

The curtain-raising went on for a while which agitated the crowd into shouting, “We want P-Square!” “We want P-Square!”

They were brought to calm however with a mad mix from DJ Aluda that was matched with what I would think was a superb sound system by Excel Sounds. The blah blah blahs were all said, until the moment that mattered the most – when the Nigerian singing duo stepped on stage.

Time check, 11.22pm, dressed like they were headed for combat, red pants and black armor atop the vests, the twins jumped on stage like charging bulls with a teaser of their hit Do me! Teasing and exciting, taking off shirts, they performed more hits like; The roof is on fire, Roll it, and a lot more.

They took it a notch higher when Mowzey and Weasel joined them on stage to do their [Mowzey and Weasel’s] monster hit Nakudata.

Can you imagine P-Square singing Luganda!

I could swear Ugandans lost their voices screaming for this one! It was a point of no return, hit after hit, from their latest Alingo to which they danced like they were from another planet to Beautiful Onyinye

They closed the performance with the giant hit Chop ma money along which the crowd sang word for word!
