1. This Invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice (GPN) for this project that appeared in UNDB online AfDB 163-754/9 of 01 July 2009 and on the African Development Bank Group’s Internet Website.

2. The Government of Uganda has received financing from the African Development Fund (ADF) towards the cost of the Uganda Post-Primary Education & Training Expansion and Improvement (ADB Education IV) Project.

It is intended that part of the proceeds of this loan will be applied to eligible payments under the contracts for Proposed Rehabilitation and Expansion of Facilities at 12 Secondary Schools and 1 Business Technical and Vocational Education and Training (BTVET) Institution.

3. The Ministry of Education and Sports (The Employer) now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the Proposed Rehabilitation and Expansion of Facilities at 12 Secondary Schools and 1 BTVET Institution.

The scope of works comprise of civil, electro-mechanical and external works for new and renovation of existing institutional buildings. The works have been divided into eleven (11) Lots and each Lot constitutes a separate bid as indicated below:-

Lot 30: Rehabilitation and Expansion of facilities at Kitara S.S.

Lot 31: Rehabilitation and Expansion of facilities at Kyebambe S.S.

Lot 32: Rehabilitation and Expansion of facilities at St. Leo’s College, Kyegobe.

Lot 33: Rehabilitation and Expansion of facilities at Kasese S.S.S.

Lot 34: Rehabilitation and Expansion of facilities at Ibanda S.S.S.

Lot 35: Rehabilitation and Expansion of facilities at Busoga College, Mwiri.

Lot 36: Rehabilitation and Expansion of facilities at Iganga S.S.

Lot 37: Rehabilitation and Expansion of facilities at Mityana S.S.

Lot 38: Rehabilitation and Expansion of facilities at Dokolo Technical Institute.

Lot 39: Rehabilitation and Expansion of facilities at Makerere College School and Nabisunsa Girls School

Lot 40: Rehabilitation and Expansion of facilities at Nsambya S.S and Gombe S.S.

5. A complete set of bidding documents may be purchased by interested bidders on submission of a written application to the above address and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of UGX150,000/= (Uganda Shilling One Hundred Fifty Thousand only) or an equivalent amount in a convertible currency for each Lot. 6.

The provisions in the Instructions to Bidders and in the General Conditions of Contract are the provisions of the African Development Bank Standard Bidding Document for Procurement of Goods and Works September 2012 Revised July 2012.

7. Bids must be delivered to the above Office on or before 11:00 a.m local time (=GMT + 3) on 5th February 2013 and must be accompanied by a bid security in form of an unconditional Bank Guarantee as indicated below:-
