Combating the current biting unemployment would require government to emphasise a component of entrepreneurship at all levels of education in order to nurture an elite class well versed in business, a local investor has proposed.

Shukla Mukesh, the chief executive officer for Shumuk Group noted that business, around which entrepreneurship rotates, must be a cardinal undertaking no matter one’s education qualifications for it helps in averting the challenge of consumerism (spending on consumption as opposed to investing).

Mukesh believes that emphasising entrepreneurship in the education system would be a significant step taken in aligning the system to the relevant demands of the country’s job market.

Entrepreneurship is basically an art of establishing a personal business by undertaking innovations or introducing new business ideas and going ahead to develop business acumen by transforming innovations into economic goods.

“Investing is a venture no person must avoid in the process of pursuing wealth, but it becomes more productive if it’s handled with the basic knowledge most of which is enshrined in entrepreneurship education,” he said.

Mukesh was last week conducting a mentorship session during the Global Entrepreneurship Week annually organised by Enterprise Uganda. He was chosen to inspire businessmen with his 26 year business journey that has seen him establish an investment Group comprising more than ten companies each valued in tens millions of dollars.

He advised young entrepreneurs to always; deliver what they promise to clients, insist on good quality, have integrity in business, be resilient in the face of challenges and remain focused on acquiring and retaining more customers
