Villa president Immanuel Misaga has insisted that he had to dismiss his head coach Stephen Bogere because he needed a tactician with resilience.

SC Villa dismissed Bogere after just their first Uganda Premier League loss of the season –a 2-1 against Police FC and when contacted for comment, he said that the coach has also always lacked character while on the job.

Misaga said that he had to act on the coach before the Jogoos fourth game of the season against URA FC on Friday.

“I had to act now instead of postponing problems. We have a game against URA FC and the earlier we get these issues sorted out the better. Problem with Bogere is that he lacks confidence and we could not continue like that,” Misaga said on Tuesday.

Misaga confirmed that Bogere will be served his dismissal letter with a one month salary on Wednesday.

The coach was dismissed immediately after the loss at Kavumba Recreation Grounds.

Following the dismissal, assistant coach Ibrahim Kirya, who returned to SC Villa as a deputy coach takes over until a substantive tactician is appointed.

Bogere’s sacking follows the dismissal of SC Villa technical director Polly Ouma last week.
