KAMPALA - The Police on Tuesday arrested and detained a Ugandan musician for allegedly driving recklessly.
Tonny Lubega alias Red Banton was arrested on Entebbe Road in his Toyota Corona UAJ 967S.
The officer-in-charge of traffic at Katwe Police Station, Christopher Sonko, confirmed the arrest.
He said a traffic officer earlier on Tuesday saw Red Banton joining Entebbe Road from Mirambi at a high speed and almost knocked one of the vehicles coming from Kampala and a traffic officer.
The officer arrested the singer and drove him to Katwe Police Station.
Sonko said Red Banton faces charges of reckless driving, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving a motor vehicle that is in a poor condition and driving without a permit.
A case file has been opened and when contacted, Red Banton admitted he had been drinking since Monday night.
He however said he did not intend to knock the traffic officer.
