Pool Queen Carol Kanzira will have her hands full of challenge as she battles to defend the title against a formidable field of women at Lumas Pool Arena on Saturday.

Pool Queen Carol Kanzira will have her hands full of challenge as she battles to defend the title against a formidable field of women at Lumas Pool Arena on Saturday.

The Hot Pool Club icon is drawn in the group of life B which has an array of seasoned players to challenge her before the knockout stage.

The group also has top seed and USPA player of the year 2013 Ritah Nimusiima. Other top contenders in group B are Sarah  Nakiyembe, Janet Kakut, Rehema Nanyondo, Judith Mutesi, Lydia Ayembazi Lydia and Angella Busingye. Former Easter Cup champion Busingye who returns to action after a three-year ban for unsporting conduct.

Kanzira lanches her bid to retain the title when she takes on Barbara Nebira in her first match and she is likely to meet on Vivian Kagoya in the quarter finals stage.

Zainab Nambafu, Vicky Namyanja and Jacinta Kajubi are expected to be top contenders in group A.

This year’s championship has drawn 64 women including up country players from Masaka, Jinja and Mbarara.

The champion will walk away with a top prize of sh1 m and one pool table from Pool Association of Uganda.

 “We want to make this championship Big and Better and l believe we shall reach our Goals” said Mr Farouk Wamala Kisuze PAU Chairman.

 “This is going to help us to see which players we can include in our team that is going to participate in All Africa pool championship in Darlesalam and Scotland” added Kisuze.
