The presence of Maxime Van Pee will be a big boost to the Uganda national motocross team ahead of the FIM Africa Central Motocross Championship in Nairobi, this weekend.

Team captain Arthur Blick Jr received the news that Maxime will be available for the regional championship with excitement as he is counting on leading the team to glory before he calls it quits next year.

“Actually I am very glad that Maxime is coming to battle for the MX1 title with Shivam (Vinayak). It is a great boost to our team,” Blick stated.

Maxime who surrendered the national MX1 title to Blick due to a busy academic schedule in Holland, is leading the regional category with 141 points, five ahead of Kenya’s top rider and defending champion Shivam (136). Blick is third with 122 points.

Fortune Ssentamu, 150 points, is battling it out with teammate Joshua Mwangala (121) but the duo may be upset by Aviv Orland and Waleed Omar who were on form in the final round of the national championship in the 50cc category.

In the 65cc class, national champion Ali Yasser Omar (132) just three points behind table leader Rolf Kihara (Kenya) will face a baptism of fire as Alistair Blick (128 points) is also eyeing the title he lost to Ali Omar last year.

Fatuh Kiggundu (150 points) will be out to stretch the lead against Kenya’s James Ngugi (123) in the 85cc category, while Yannick Duyck and Talha Kiggundu will battle ‘Cruise Control’ Mugai and Tutu Maina in the MX2 category.

Uganda leads the standings with 3524 points, 200 ahead of second placed Kenya. Tanzania is trailing in third with 123.
