Uganda Cubs team captain Andrew Okiring believes that their plan to increase pace on the wings is what will beat Zambia’s Young Chipolopolo during the return leg of the third round 2015 Niger Africa Youth Championship qualifiers on Saturday.

After training at match venue Nakivubo stadium on Wednesday, a confident sounding Okiring, who missed the first leg at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka, said that coach Matia Lule’s emphasis on approaching the attack through the wings has paid off in their recent build up matches.

“We have successfully increased our pace on the wings and everybody has mastered the approach which is good. The Zambians will only be subdued that way,” Okiring, who rejoined the team from the US on Monday, said.

A group of Members of Parliament led by Hamson Denis Obua met the team before training and encouraged the boys to overturn the 2-0 deficit against Zambia.

“Anything is possible in football especially if you maintain discipline. Just know that it is a privilege to put on that national jersey because there are so many other good players out there, who are not here. When you win, the country will celebrate so you don’t win for yourselves,” Obua, who is also the Parliamentary football team manager, said.

The MPs, who also train at Nakivubo for their forthcoming competitions, contributed a sh1m token, which Obua said was of out their pockets to encourage the team.

The Zambian team was expected to jet in from Lusaka last night and their coach Chris Kaunda has vowed to keep their lead to qualify for finals of the competition due next year.

The Zambian squad expected: Goalkeepers: Danny Sinkanyika, Jackson Kakunta. Defenders: Edward Chimfwembe, Salati Lungu, Edwin Chipile, Wayne Musemba, Prosper Chiluya, Kingsley Musabula and Gift Sikaonga. Midfielders: Enock Mwepu, Changwe Kalale, Victor Chungu, Siame Musonda, Shadreck Kambwili, Garry Mweelwa. Strikers: Patson Daka, Pumulo Siwanga and Kenny Sinkala.
