The new board chairperson of Uganda Export Promotion Board (UEPB) has cautioned her colleagues against politicising issues of the agency.

“Let’s not politicise issues but achieve our objective of improving the exports in the country,” Maria Odido told board members.

Odido implored the staff to work as a team and hit the target of raising exports.

“Our coming here is not to destabilize you but to strengthen and boost your capacity exponentially on the board’s aspirations,” Odida advised.

“Our existence will revamp your efforts,” she added.

She was meeting the staff for the first time after a lull of four years.

“Let’s work as a team and show the country that UEPB has the potential of becoming the leading export body in East African Community,” she said.

She told the staff that the board’s focus is to make UEPB relevant in the East African region and the Common Market in East and South Africa as well as to be recognised internationally.

The UEPB executive director, Florence Kata, welcomed the new board and pledged her cooperation so that the board meets its aspirations.

She asked the board to engage her youthful and energetic staff to realise the aspirations of the agency.
