A number of enterprises including Vision Group and Enterprise Uganda are partnering to celebrate the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2012, with emphasis placed on devising means of enhancing entrepreneurial creativity and innovation among the young population.

Between 12th and 18th November, local enterprises join thousands of organisations around the world to organise a range of activities, events and initiatives ranging from inspiring talks, exhibitions, essay writing competitions, business mentorship, and business experience sharing, among others.

According to Mary Odongo, the GEW is an initiative whose objective is to inspire and involve young people to challenge their brains to find solutions to society’s challenges using resources and opportunities around them.

In Uganda, the biggest highlights of the GEW will feature exhibitions and a conference  that will run from 15th -16th  at the Uganda Manufacturers Association Conference Hall with key note speakers like; Mukesh Shukla- Shumuk Group of Companies, Barbara Ofwono of Victorious Education Services, Charles Ocici from Enterprise Uganda and Aweki of Aweki Enterprises.

“A lot of solutions to the world’s pressing challenges are around us if only we challenged people’s brains to be more imaginative, innovative and creative because the greatest challenge to discovering the solutions is to unlock the talent and entrepreneurial potential of every person,” she said.

She added that this year’s GEW encourages especially young people to have enterprising mindset which is innovative, takes risks, generates and implements new ideas and exploits their talents to provide economic and social benefits to society.
