KAMPALA - Anti-riot Police has been deployed around Kyambogo University’s faculty of engineering mechanical department following a strike by students from the department of engineering over a leaked exam.

The faculty had asked all third year students to re-sit an exam they did last year, after it emerged that it was leaked to some of the students.

However, the students rejected the proposal and suggested that the university punishes the students involved.

They also protested the frequent delays by the university management to release their semester results on time.

On Wednesday morning, the students bought heavy padlocks and locked all the faculty rooms, paralyzing business on campus.

Earlier on Tuesday afternoon, the students threw out lecturers who turned up to teach and stormed the senate building demanding a review of the move by the university management.

They also blocked all roads leading to the faculty. They resolved not to attend lectures until the university rescinds its position.

University officials were by press time still locked up in a meeting to resolve the matter.
