Two dead, 28 injured in bus accident

Two people died on spot while several others got injured following a bus accident that occurred Monday night at a place called Kyapa-Kiruhura on Mbarara-Masaka Highway.

The South Western Region Police Spokesperson, Polly Namaye, identified one of the deceased as Aloysius Kamugisha, a resident of Rwera Ntungamo District and was the conductor of the Jagua bus number UAL 995R.

Namaye said the bus rammed into an unidentified vehicle, lost control and overturned killing two people and injuring 28 others.

Namaye said 26 were admitted at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital and two at Mayanja Memerial Hospital.  Police suspect the cause of the accident was speeding by the bus driver.
