Kabarole Siamese twins admitted at Mulago Hospital share the heart and the liver. Francis and Robert are admitted at the hospital’s special care unit (SCU) in ward 5B.

According to the hospital’s spokesperson, Enock Kusasira, the male babies – currently weighing 4.3kg – are in stable condition.

He said doctors are doing more investigations to establish whether they may be sharing other organs.

They were born on October 15 in Buhinga Hospital by a 38-year-old Olivia Kamin and Robert Kyaligonza.

Kusasira said doctors had not decided whether to separate them or not because they are still doing investigations.

“The babies are still below the recommended weight to be separated. They have to feed up to a certain stage before the doctors decide whether to carry out the operation or not,” Kusasira said.

This is the fourth pair of Siamese twins admitted at the hospital, including the two pairs from Ngora and Kabarole districts, which passed on.
