Kenzo punches local radio journalist at press conference

Eddy Kenzo, it turns out, is an experienced fist fighter. Earlier on Thursday, the “Sitya Loss” singer lost his cool, pounced at Dembe FM journalist Kasuku, and pelted him with several blows that sent the journalist straight to the floor. 

The incident happened at Laftaz Comedy Lounge in Centenary Park, when a question asked to Kenzo during a press conference for his upcoming concert, didn’t go down well.

During his briefing about the upcoming Nice and Lovely-Sitya Loss concert; Kenzo had accused journalists of killing the local music industry by writing negatively about Ugandan musicians. 

Kasuku, real name Isaac Katende, asked Kenzo to apologise to journalists, as they have been writing positively about him this whole year. 

Then, in a sort of advice to the artiste, Kasuku asked the musician and all the others to earn the positive publicity by behaving in a way that is worthy.

The journalist pointed out that if Kenzo was worth the positive publicity, allegations about him being gay wouldn’t be existent at all. It was about this point that the journalist asked the singer to clarify whether he was gay. 

In the midst of Kenzo responding, Kasuku interjected, asking whether it was true that Kenzo paid radio deejays to stop playing singer Big Eye’s music. 

Attempts by Kenzo to clarify didn’t quell Kasuku’s curiosity, who, amidst other intermittent allegations, claimed he had evidence that Kenzo tried to sabotage his protégé Big Eye’s music because the latter quit Kenzo’s Big Talent camp, and formed his own, Big Music. 

At this point, Kenzo, who said he wasn’t being given a chance to explain himself, got incensed, and without warning pounced at the journalist, swiftly knocking him down with several straight jabs to the face.

The artiste’s management tried to quell the scuffle in vain, at which point Kenzo stormed out, accusing the journalist of speaking foul of him on his radio shows. 

Clearly, it looks like Kenzo has decided to live by his hit song, “Sitya Loss”, which directly translates into “I don’t fear losing”. 

Otherwise how else would he be fighting journalists? Meanwhile, his Nice and Lovely-Sitya Loss concert takes place on September 19th at Kati Kati. Entrance is sh10,000 ordinary and sh30,000 VIP.
