MUBENDE - Police in Mubende district have arrested a born-again pastor over alleged theft and obtaining money by false pretense.

Herbert Kuuku, who says he is a bishop in the United Pentecostal Churches, was held mid this week, following a complaint by an Austrian evangelist, Andrew Wilhem, that he (Kuuku) stole his money and property.

Kuuku has been running the New Life Revival Fire Church in Kisekende in Mubende town and the United Pentecostal Churches, Buliisa in Bageza sub-county, all under the United Pentecostal Churches.

The Police led by Mubende district Police commander, Enock Abaine, cordoned off the premises the chucrch and searched Kuuku’s office.

Kuuku recently started a radio station and a recording studio at the church, whose property Wilhem claims is his.

“I sent most of these items to him and I have the receipts. I should regain them,” Wilhem said as he held copies of the receipts for the different items.

Wilhem said the money and property was supposed to be used to preach the gospel but Kuuku had allegedly diverted it for his private use.
