In pictures: Muslims mark Eid al-Adha

UGANDA - Muslims in Uganda on Friday joined the rest of the Islamic world in marking the end of the pilgrimage to Mecca – Hajj – in the form of Eid al-Adha.

In Mukono, Sheikh Saziri Lumala led the day’s prayers at Mukono central market. He asked the government to help Muslims who had paid money to travel to Mecca, but did not go, to be refunded.

At Gaddafi Mosque in Old Kampala, Sheikh Shaban Mubajje castigated the education ministry for not postponing the Senior Four national exams to allow Muslim students mark the Islamic holiday.

“As we celebrate, some of our students are sitting their exams. This is not acceptable” he said.
