Mbabazi closes regional Police meet

Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi has closed a regional Police chiefs meeting which opened over the weekend in Kampala.

KAMPALA - Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi Wednesday closed a regional Police chiefs meeting which opened over the weekend.

The meeting commenced on Sunday, October 14 at Speke Resort Munyonyo, an upscale Kampala suburb.

The Premier, who represented the President, said Uganda believes in a joint African effort to solve African problems, including crime.

Police chiefs from 12 countries under the East Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPPCO) deliberated on ways of combating terrorism, border crimes and gender-based crimes, among others issues.

The meeting attracted over 1,000 delegates from different countries in Africa and beyond.

EAPPCO is charged with carrying out regular reviews of joint crime management strategies in view of changing national and regional needs, and priorities.

EAPPCO member countries include; Rwanda, Burundi, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Uganda, Seychelles, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Tanzania and Comoros Islands.
