Prince Edward Columbus Wambuzi has assumed office as Kyabazinga of Busoga.

According to Wilson Muwereza, Busoga Kingdom’s Prime Minister, Wambuzi is only continuing with his tenure of office that was interrupted following a court ruling that dismissed a petition against his election to the throne.

“What has happened today is a mere continuation of somebody’s tenure of office as Kyabazinga following a court ruling that dismissed a petition against Edward Columbus Wambuzi’s election to the Kingdom throne,” Muwereza said.

He said Wambuzi and his guards on Tuesday morning accessed the kingdom headquarters and majestically walked to the office of the Kyabazinga in the company of ministers under the Busoga Government and other officials.

Wambuzi, who was clad in a black suit, was driven in a Toyota Prado with a personalized registration number ‘Busoga 1’ and heavily guarded by royal guards.

This time there were no Police officers to deny him entrance as they did twice, before, while at the Kingdom headquarters.

While in his office, Wambuzi declined to talk to scribes but kept gazing at them as they were capturing every moment while he was meeting ministers and other Kingdom officials.

It is now four years since the throne fell vacant after the death of the former Issebantu Kyabazinga, Henry Wako Mulooki, who passed away at the age of 80 in 2008.

The throne is being contested between Wambuzi and Prince Gabula Nadiope.
