World and Olympic champion Stephen Kiprotich  will be up against  British double Olympic and World 10000m and 5000m champion Mo Farah and  Ethiopian Tariku Bekele when they line up for the Bupa Great North run.

The world greatest half marathon is due Sunday in Newcastle and will be helping Kiprotich prepare for other international marathons, where he has failed to leave an impact as in the  2012 Olympic Games  and  2013 World Championships.

The runner, who has been training with Kaptagat, is set to leave for Gateshead, Newcastle tonight for the race that has attracted a number of runners, including another Ugandan Thomas Ayeko.

Ayeko won last year’s event and he is expected to team up with Kiprotich as they race against other top runners that include Tariku Bekele- a 2012 Olympic bronze medallist in the 10000m and world indoor championships.

Kenya’s Mark Kiptoo, Mike Kingen and Ezrah Sang are some of the other elite runners that have been announced by the organisers of the annual event.

“I have been preparing for this event. I am looking forward for the competition which I am positive will boost my campaign for a marathon medal in bigger marathons,” Kiprotich   said earlier.

Kiprotich won the 10km run in Newcastle, which is a warm up event for the great run.
