The Energy Efficiency Week is an annual event organised by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development to create awareness amongst the public on efficient utilisation of energy.

It also promotes renewable energy and energy efficient technologies available on the local market.

The main objectives of the Energy Efficiency Week are to promote the efficient use of
energy across all sectors and to address the challenges of energy efficiency in households, industries, institutions and commercial buildings.

Other objectives are to provide small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with management capabilities to advance efficient energy, to introduce energy efficient practices and principles to the grassroots and the youth.

The Energy Week also aims at supporting the private sector by promoting energy efficient and renewable energy technologies such as compact fluorescent lamps, electronic ballasts, efficient motors, improved wood and charcoal cooking stoves, electric cookers, solar water heaters, solar powered devices, and other domestic appliances.

It also aims at making customers aware of the energy efficient and renewable energy
technologies, making it easier for them to make informed decisions while purchasing equipment.

The key message to the public is to make wise choices and use energy efficiently for sustainable development.
