Police boss 'house warms' opulent mansion

Kampala Metropolitan commander Andrew Felix Kaweesi on Sunday treated guests to a fete as he entered his opulent mansion in Lwengo district.

Kampala Metropolitan commander Andrew Felix Kaweesi on Sunday treated guests to a fete as he entered his opulent mansion in Lwengo district.

The function was graced by his boss, Inspector General of Police, Gen. Kale Kayihura who flew by chopper to Kaweesi’s home in Kitwekyanjovu village, Kyazanga Sub County.

Kaweesi was also celebrating the baptism of his son, Aaron Israel Kaweesi .

Honouring his loyal cadre, Kayihura said of Kaweesi:

“Kaweesi has never betrayed me or failed me since I started working with him in 2006; that is why he has come this far.”

“He is loyal in everything he does that is why people have called him my in-law, others my brother yet we are not at all related,” Kayihura said.

The Police boss was advising police officers in attendance to emulate Kaweesi; work hard and be trustworthy if they sought career progression.

Kaweesi thanked his boss for honouring his function also paid tribute to his late parents; Esther and Alifunsi Mutambuze who passed away when he and his siblings were still young.

“Who am I; a man of humble beginnings of Kyazanga to come this far! I am the most senior police officer in the over five districts that form Greater Masaka ; except for Maj. Gen. Kayemba who is an army officer!” Kaweesi said, thanking God for his achievements.

He thanked Gen. Kayihura for entrusting him with the responsibility of running the Police in Kampala and also paying tribute to his departed parents.

“I am greatly honoured and pledge to even work harder,” Kaweesi said.

He added: “People have always rumoured that Kayihura is my brother; others say he is my in-law but he has never even set foot where I was born. I named my son Aaron because in the bible it means ‘hill’. The state in which his mother, Annet Kaweesi, gave birth to him was all God’s blessings,” he said.

The function that was graced by affluent people from various religious, political and social circles was blessed with holy mass said by Fr. John Mary Lukyamuzi, Kaweesi’s uncle who stays in Virginia in the US and 13 other clergy.

Kaweesi’s other elder uncle, Kityamuweesi Musuubire, counseled him to continue being obedient towards his superiors in executing his duties.

The function was attended by city tycoons Mohammed Ssebuuwufu of the famous Pine auto dealers, top artiste Jose Chameleone and senior police officers including Haji Balimwoyo (Police HR boss), Judith Nabakooba, Dr. Moses Byaruhanga (head pathologist), Lawrence Niwabiine (Kampala traffic boss) and Hajji Asuman Mugenyi.
