There was drama during the Netball Extra- ordinary Assembly at Lugogo when delegates denied having received a notice informing them of a constitution amendment.

This was a result of the Netball federation Secretary Annet Kisomose announcing that after taking a resolution to comply with the National Council of Sports (NCS) regulations, the meeting will continue with amendment of the constitution.

“We have never received any communication on amendment of the constitution and you only told us last Saturday that each club sends two delegates to a meeting with National Council of Sports,” Rosette Kaala the Posta delegate stated.

She was supported by Fred Balenzi (Mukono) and another delegate from Kyenjojo who said that the communication within the Federation is still wanting.

The situation was tamed by National Council of Sports assistant Secretary David Katende who urged the delegates to bury their hatchet and work together as a team for the good of the sport.

“I happen to be a close follower of netball and I want to urge you to work together. We are making a resolution for the future of the sport that requires working as a team,” Katende stated.

“The Extra-ordinary assembly has one agenda that is the resolution for compliance. The Constitutional amendment can be done on any other time,” Katende guided the house that had started counter accusations between the front bench and the delegates.

“The sport is bigger than all over us and no one can live longer than this sport, but we just come to contribute to it because sports is a public good and belongs to all of us,” Katende stressed before members passed a resolution to adhere to the NCS regulations.

UNF President Suzan Anek attributed all the gaps to financial challenges and promised to improve.
