Herbert Wafula is the new Rugby Cranes Sevens coach. Wafula was appointed on Tuesday night after John Musoke was a suspended from the sport.

Uganda Rugby Union (URU) special assembly suspended Musoke together with fellow Kampala Club executives Henry Musoke, Sam Ahamya and Stephen ‘Foxy’ Ojambo over the controversial sale of their club.

Wafula will embark on the assignment at Kyadondo Club this afternoon to prepare the team for the Safari Seven in Nairobi later this month.

“I never shy away from responsibility, I just welcomed the challenge. I have been there and done it. I will create an atmosphere for players to perform at their best,” Wafula told New Vision online.

Wafula, a former national team captain retired in 2003 when got injured and was appointed Sevens coach after attending an International Rugby Board (IRB) coaching course in Cape Town.

He holds an IRB Level 2 coaching certificate and was the first IRB educator for coaches in East and Central Africa.
