Beans, sugar prices continue to rise

The price of yellow beans has continued to rise. A kilogram that cost shs2800, at the close of last week, rose to shs3500 in Nakasero market, and shs3000 in Owino, Nakawa, Kalerwe and Kibuye markets.

The price of yellow beans has continued to rise. A kilogram that cost shs2800, at the close of last week, rose to shs3500 in Nakasero market, and shs3000 in Owino, Nakawa, Kalerwe and Kibuye markets.
Sugar too that was reported to have come to shs3000 last week now costs shs3500, in Owino, Nakasero, Nakawa, Kalerwe and Kibuye market.
Traders say that the increase in sugar prices is due to the low supply from the main supplier, Kakira Sugar Works.
However, items like Pakistani rice, tomatoes, Kaiyso, supper and Nambale beans are experiencing a drop in price too. A kilogram of Pakistani that sold at shs3500 last week in Nakasero, Owino, Kibuye and Kalerwe market, has now dropped to shs3000.
A kilogram of tomatoes that cost shs2000 in Nakawa, and Kibuye is now down to shs1800. In Owino it has dropped to shs1500 from shs1800.
