IT was a walk in the park as Heathens smashed Buffaloes 24-3 in a match that didn’t live to its billing to book a final clash against traditional rivals Kobs in the Nile Special Rugby Uganda Cup final.

Edgar Odyeke, Alex Mubiru, captain Michael Wokorach scored a try each and a penalty try by Arthur Mukama plus two conversions by Chris Lubanga were enough to hand Heathens the win.

Buffaloes’ consolation penalty was scored by Kevin Keremundu.

“We managed to keep discipline and contained them but now we all know the final between Kobs is always a cracker but we know what to do to win,” Heathens coach Brian Tabaruka stated.

In the other semifinal, Kobs narrowly survived defeat when trailing 13-11, with two minutes to the end of the match, got a penalty that was scored by Ivan Mugirya to win 14-13 at Dam Waterz Rugby Club in Jinja on Saturday.

Coach John Musoke when contacted after the game stated, “I’m disappointed with the officiating but happy that my team can now compete at the top level.”

The final will be played on August 23 at Legends Kampala Rugby Club.
