Residents who will be affected by the 51.4km Kampala-Entebbe express highway have great expectations of being compensated to enable them to relocate.

However, others are still confused as to whether they will be compensated since they do not have ownership documents for their land while others own land that has some disputes.

M/S Mott Macdonald Uganda Limited, the company contracted by the Government to conduct the valuation has finalised the exercise for the first 10 kilometers on this road starting from Busega Round-about near the Northern Bypass where the project begins.

Dan Alinange, the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) spokesperson said they have identified 900 people to be compensated in the first 5km and that the valuation report has been submitted to the chief government valuer for approval. Payments will then be made to the affected people will be made.

“Affected residents should stay calm since they will receive an extra pay of 30% as disturbance fees for relocation,” said Alinange.
