Fertility Doctor, Edward Tamale Ssali has appeared in Court and denied responsibility for the 2010 mysterious death of a woman in his clinic, then called Kampala Gynaecology and Fertility Centre.

The Doctor who appeared in the court Tuesday to answer criminal summons issued against him was released on a sh1m cash bail while his three sureties were bonded at sh10m each not cash.

He was charged before Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate, Sylvia Nabaggala.

Dr. Ssali and two others are charged with causing death of Mercy Ayiru by a rash and negligent act. She had gone to the hospital for an operation called laparoscopic myomectomy.

The deceased’s family insists that Ayiru's death was not accidental but criminal. They complain that immediately after her death, the doctors came out panicking and told them that she developed complications and died before they could touch her.
