Former Vice President Gilbert Bukenya has been summoned by police in Kakiri Wakiso district over a group of youth that had visited him at his Kakiri country home.

Former Vice President Gilbert Bukenya has been summoned by police in Kakiri Wakiso district over a group of youth that had visited him at his Kakiri country home.
In a phone interview with New Vision online this evening, Bukenya confirmed the development saying; “Iam here at Kakiri Police station still sorting out a few issues” before he hang up.
According to one of Bukenya‘s aides only identified as Fina, said Police in Kakiri first held a group of 100 youth that were coming from the former VP’s home.
“He went there to rescue them when he was also held by police. However they are now being released one by one and he cannot leave before they are all out,” said Fina.
Meanwhile Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga told New Vision online that Police was concerned about the safety of the former VP after seeing what he called a convey of vehicles emerging from Bukenya’s home.
He noted that Police later called Bukenya at Kakiri Police station to explain to Police the youth’s presence at his home.
“We just wanted him to explain to us that these are my guests. As Police, we mind about the security of the former vice president,” explained Enanga.
The youth who are alleged to have come from Luwero district, were traveling in two taxis and one minibus.
However ,by press time, it was not yet established whether Bukenya and his team had been freed.
