NRM caucus has named new Parliament committee chairpersons and their deputies.

The committees, according to the Parliament spokesperson, Helen Kawesa, were agreed upon during the recent amendments to the Parliamentary rules of procedure.

The Social Services committee was split into two – the committee on Health and that of Education.

Dr. Sam Lyomoki is the chairperson Health committee deputized by Iriama Margaret. Education committee is chaired by Sylvia Ssinabulya eputized by Jacob Opolot.

Kawesa contends that the Social Services committee has been split because it has been handling big sensitive sectors with different concerns.

Kadogo Veronica and Mwebaza Sarah are chairperson and deputy respectively to the committee of East African Community, while Jovah Kamateeka chairs the Human Rights committee.

The opposition chairs all accountability committees in Parliament, while the remaining sessional and standing committees are chaired by legislators affiliated to the ruling party.
