Zanzile's story

Zanzile could hardly believe that this was all really happening to her. Here she was, sitting on a large platform high up in the trees in the forest of the dangerous Gilili people talking to a parrot, one that set her up to be captured by the Gilili at that.

“So you are giving me the silent treatment are you?” the annoying bird said. “It doesn’t work on me because I will just go ahead and say what I want whether you answer me or not.”

“I was just trying to think,” Zanzile turned and looked at the parrot. “Can you really help me find the sacred vessel?”
“Now we are talking!” The parrot flew down to a branch right next to Zanzile. “First you must go through the Forest Court. Hopefully they will turn you over to the Supreme.”

“Turn me over to the what?” Zanzile shifted on her seat in horror.
“Trust me this would be the best thing ever.”

The Gilili began humming and everyone turned their attention towards the far end of the platform. A man dropped down quite unceremoniously from the large tree that had the major hold on the platform. Zanzile looked up the tree where he had come from and saw a small tree house made of wood and padded with what looked like leaves.

“Wow!” she whispered under her breath seeing other such huts in the trees around the platform. “So this is where they lived! No wonder people thought they appeared and disappeared at will. Nobody would think that anyone lived so high up in the trees!”

“That is not so amazing,” the parrot followed her gaze with his own. “I have nested even higher. In fact one time I nested in the caves of the scared mountain!”

“You are a bird. You are supposed to nest in the trees!” Zanzile shook her head looking back at the humming Gilili all staring at the man who had just literally dropped in on them. “The way you speak anyone would think you were a human being in a former life or something.”
“Actually ...”

Suddenly, the humming stopped and the man from the trees lifted his pole up in the air. Everyone seemed to be waiting for something to happen. Zanzile looked on too thinking that nothing could surprise her now. She had seen it all. Without saying a single word, the man waved his pole around in the air then pointed it straight at Zanzile.

All eyes turned to look at her. She had never felt so conspicuous. She was defiantly not one of them and she had been caught in the forest hiding in a tree as the parrot had pointed out now here she was in deep, deep trouble!
