UGANDA Super League Limited’s has decided that Express, Simba, Proline and Water all forfeit points from their contested fixtures which were rescheduled but failed to materialise.

However, the decision has been termed ridiculous by coaches of the concerned clubs.

A top USL official Kavuma Kabenge said: “We are not giving any of the clubs points. Points must be earned on the pitch not anywhere else.”

USL publicist James Sekandi had referred New Vision to Kabenge, who said yesterday that the clubs’ umbrella body had resolved that way because the matches were not played.

Both Express and Water failed to raise full teams against Simba and Proline FC respectively and the latter refused to honour the rescheduled fixtures blaming their opponents for negligence.

“It’s really a laughing matter because I have never heard of that. How will they account for those matches? Let them face the truth and give us the points or seek advice from those who know the rules,” Proline head coach Abdallah Mubiru said.

On his part, Express tactician Sam Ssimbwa called it madness. “I don’t care who made the decision, it is total madness. In which country has that ever happened. We (Express) are waiting for a replay. We can only lose those points on the pitch and not in the boardroom,” Ssimbwa reacted yesterday.

Meanwhile USL has awarded three points and three goals to KCC following Fire Masters failure to show up for their home fixture against the Lugogo boys on Tuesday.

The club has skipped three matches namely against KCC, SC Villa and Proline. Sekandi said that the USL board would rule on whether to throw the Kavumba side out of the top flight competition.

BIDCO suspends Makumbi
BIDCO FC has suspended head coach Richard Makumbi for four matches following the club’s poor run of results, Bruno Mugooda adds.

Makumbi, who guided BIDCO right from Jinja first division to the super league this season, has had a series of poor results. The side is left with four outings to wind up the season.

“We wanted to try out a new strategy to achieve some good results and bring some smiles on fans and officials,” said an official after the 1-1 super league draw against Police FC at the Njeru on Tuesday.
