No wonder a new route in Luwero District was designed a couple of months ago. With a sh170m sponsorship from Shell Uganda coming in seven weeks prior to the event, expectations of a much better rally are high.

The race that is the fifth round of the Africa Rally Championship is scheduled for July 13-15. It will start with a super special stage at Lubiri on July 13 and will cover 17 competitive sections in Luwero over the next two days.

Shell Uganda country chairman Ivan Kyayonka announced the package at the launch of the race at their Lugogo Service Station amidst applause from motorsport officials and competitors who attended the function in a show of solidarity.

“The rally will this year continue to have enhanced safety features. For the first time the event will have live Satellite tracking of all cars in order to monitor the competitors’ safety,” Bitalo stated.
