Paedophile Emin Baro case to be transferred to Iganga Court

The case involving Emin Baro, who was convicted recently for molesting underage Ugandan girls, is set to be transferred to a court in Iganga district.

The case involving Emin Baro, who was convicted recently for molesting underage Ugandan girls, is set to be transferred to a court in Iganga district.

Chief magistrate Esther Nambayo who was presiding over the case at Nakawa court asked for the file to be transferred to Iganga Chief Magistrate’s Court on grounds that Baro committed the sexual offences in Iganga and therefore it has the geographical jurisdiction to try him

Baro, 54, was initially charged under the Computer Misuse Act. He was found in possession of a compact disc with videos showing two children sucking his genitals and arrested on March 12, at Bugumba village, Iganga district.

Before Nakawa court Grade One magistrate Rosemary Ngabirano, Baro pleaded guilty and he was fined sh6m which he paid.

Two weeks ago, High Courrt judge Justice Faith Mwondha ordered for aBaro’s retrial on grounds that Ngabirano had over stepped her powers and also mishandled the case.
