FDC youth arrested for storming DPP''s office

Police detained four youths from the FDC party for five hours on allegations for storming the office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions in Kampala.

Police detained four youths from the FDC party for five hours on allegations for storming the office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in Kampala.

The youths stormed the offices at about 10am demanding for an explanation from the DPP for the wrong prosecution of the Buganda riot suspects who court freed on Monday.               

Police has identified the youths as Babra Alimadri, Harriet Nakiyemba, Waswa Tamale and Henry Lubega who they later freed unconditionally from the Central Police Station (CPS) in Kampala.

The DPP offices are located on Workers House building on Pilkington Street.      

"Many Ugandans are being detained on false allegations and this comes as unskillfulness from the DPP. He should resign for he does not know what his job is, "Nakiyemba said, soon after her release from Police holding.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman Ibin Ssenkumbi in an interview said that, the four and others at large ambushed the offices in large numbers causing an alarm for rescue.      

Police received a call from DPP's office that a group of rowdy youths had stormed their offices and needed Police intervention which Police did and even made arrests.   

Ssenkumbi also said the youths did not record statements but were cautioned to keep away from the DPP's office which is out of bounds to unlawful assemblies.  

He added that DPP's office earlier filed a formal complaint about the youths and Police is to investigate after evidence is got persecutions will prevail.
