UOC boss Roger Ddungu has trashed a suspension meted out to him by a section of his executive.

Seven executive members on Tuesday met and resolved to suspend Ddungu for what they termed as gross abuse of office and violation of the UOC constitution.

They also barred Ddungu from accessing the committee's secretariat and documents.  They also don't want Ddungu to make any communications on UOC's behalf.

That's trash. There are procedures of calling meetings. As far as I am concerned, that was merely an anonymous group purporting to convene as a UOC executive,  Ddungu shot back on Wednesday.

As far as I am concerned, only the general assembly is empowered to relieve me of my duties.  I am going to take action. Wait for my statement that will be out soon.

The clashes follow a decision by Ddungu to constitute a tribunal to resolve petitions against his vice president (administration) William Blick and secretary Peninah Kabenge.

Querries were raised in a UOC general assembly in Gulu in February about  Blick's presence on the executive. Kabenge is accused of using Ddungu's signature without the president's consent.

Kabenge, who has declared her intentions to take on Ddungu at UOC's next elections, has also prompted a petition for holding executive positions on both UOC and a government body NCS.

In another development, federation heads, claiming to be tired of the infighting, have petitioned the executive to urgently call an extra ordinary assembly to sort out the differences..

Heads of archery, athletics, basketball, cycling, football, handball, hockey, lawn tennis, rugby, rowing, swimming, table tennis and  volleyball signed the petition delivered to UOC yesterday.

Addressing a press conference at the UOC offices at Lugogo, Uganda Hockey Association boss Dunstan Nsubuga said the assembly is aimed at bringing harmony.

Uganda's preparations for the London Olympics, accusations against Kabenge, the executive's mode of operation and proposed amendments to the UOC constitution are some items on the proposed agenda.
