Kabaka Ronald Mutebi turns 57

The Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi has marked his 57th birth by attending mass at St. Mary's College Kisubi.

The Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi has marked his 57th birth by attending mass at St. Mary's College Kisubi.

The Kabaka and the Nnabagereka, Sylvia Nagginda arrived to jubilations from his subjects who lined the road leading to the missionary school on Entebbe Road in Wakiso district.

The Archibishop of Kampala Archdiocese, Dr. Cyprian Lwanga led the liturgy helped by his predecessor, Cardinal Emmanuel Wamala and hundreds of priests. In his sermon Lwanga dedicated Psalms 20 to the Kabaka.

Kabaka Mutebi was born at the Mengo Palace on 13 April 1955. He is the son of Major General Sir Edward Frederick William David Walugembe Mutebi Luwangula Muteesa II, the Kabaka of Buganda, who reigned between 1939 and 1969.

His mother was “Naabakyaala” Sarah Kisosonkole Nalule, Omuzaana Kabejja, of the Nkima clan. He was educated at Buddo Junior School, King's Mead School in Sussex and Bradfield College. He then entered Magdalene College, Cambridge, where he read Law. He was appointed as Heir Apparent by his father on 6 August 1966 while he was still 11 years old.
