AS political bickering in the female rugby camp continues and accusation of one club dominating the women’s squad preparing for this year’s Elgon Cup, the team manager has thrown in the towel.

The Lady Rugby Cranes manager Edmond Owor resigned on Friday citing lack of support from the national rugby governing body-URU and busy schedule at his work place.

“I’m tied up with work and I have stepped aside to leave Becky (his assistant Rebecca Akwenyu) take full charge of the team but there are very many things we asked the Union to do but has failed,” Owor stated.

“There is no political will from the Union to develop women rugby and considering the incident when we(Lady Cranes) got an accident on the way to Nairobi  and no official from the union bothered to find out how  the girls are, is enough to justify what I believe,” Owor stated.

He explained that the women executive needs to very active and find a way forward to implement their programes minus relying on the URU like it has been in the past.

Owori stressed that women rugby has been neglected and that is why for past three years the Lady Rugby Cranes has been losing to Kenya which used to be their punching bag.
