THE High Court in Kampala Wednesday summoned National Resistance Movement (NRM) party chairman Yoweri Museveni and Secretary General Amama Mbabazi over a sh70m debt owed to one Daudi Ruhinda Maguru, who wanted to unseat party Chairman at the delegates conference held in November 2010.
In his application filed on February 3,2011 through Rwakafuuzi and Company Advocates, Maguru states that he consented with the party to pay costs of the suit he filed challenging President Yoweri Museveni's election as party chairman.
The application is against the party, its Chairman, and the Secretary General.
"The respondents be ordered to show cause why the National Resistance Movement should not be wound up and liquidated in execution of the consent judgment arising from High Court Civil Suit 214 of 2010,"Maguru contends.
Court has fixed the hearing of the application for February 29. It will be heard by the Registrar in Charge of Court Executions and Bailiffs Isaac Muwata.
Maguru contends that the two sides agreed that the NRM would hold fresh elections for the leadership of the party within 10 months after the general elections of February 18, 2011.
