JACOB Araptany warmed up for the national Cross Country Championships due in a fortnight’s time, by winning the Eastern cross country championships held in Kapchorwa on Saturday.

The world junior 3000m steeplechase bronze medallist was on form as he won the senior men category with ease. He came home in a time of 33 minutes 46.2 seconds over the 12km rough track in Kapchorwa.

Araptany, running for newly created Alpha Athletics Club managed to steal the show from other big names including Fred Arapsudi.

Arapsudi was running as an individual in a tight race that surprisingly did not attract athletes from the neighboring districts including Bukwo.

The Bukwo athletes said it would be expensive for them to travel to Kapchorwa and then travel to Jinja for the national event in just two weeks. So they decided to forego the regional event.
