The Royal Enclosure popularly known as the Ekisaakaate ended last week at St. Mary’s Secondary School Kitende. More than 3,000 children have been trained since the programme started six years ago by the Nabagereka Development Foundation to groom children between six and 18 years of age to learn and value their culture and to grow into responsible adults.

I learnt to do laundry, mop the house, wash utensils and speak and write in my language fluently.

What I learnt in the Ekisaakate will help me in my life, for instance, how to behave in public, to be confident and to respect everybody.

This is my first time to attend  Ekisaakate.  I have learnt so many things including cooking, painting and making beads. In future I will make beads and sell them to raise money.

It is my first time to attend Ekisaakate. I have learnt many things like preparing luwombo (matooke in banana leaves) and how to respect maids at home because they are like our parents too.
