China hands over new President's office

The Government yesterday received a 11-storey twin tower office block worth sh61b from the Chinese government.

The Government yesterday received a 11-storey twin tower office block worth sh61b from the Chinese government.

The structure was constructed to accommodate the offices of the President and the Prime Minister.


Prime minister Amama Mbabazi received a huge dummy key from top Chinese government officials to signify the handover of the building.

The building is located on Sir Apollo Kaggwa Road, Kampala where the function took place.

“I affirm acceptance of the completed building,” Mbabazi observed.

Works minister Abraham Byandala said construction started in October 2009 and was completed in August 2010.
He said the Government contributed $5m as payment of local taxes. The consultancy costs were $2.5m.
