Kampala Capital City minister, Muruli Mukasa has met the city Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago and Kampala Executive Director Jennifer Musisi in two separate meetings in an attempt to neutralize the brewing conflict between the two.

Muruli declined to comment on what the two discussed, but said that in his new portfolio, it makes sense for him to pay a call to the two leaders to discuss Kampala issues.

In an interview shortly after a closed meeting with Lukwago, which lasted for close to three hours, the minister however, hinted on the wrangles between Musisi and Lukwago as minor issues that can be sorted out.

“The wrangles between the two are simple issues, the most important thing is to work, and all we want is for the city to develop. I have just paid a courtesy call to the Lord Mayor and we have discussed issues of Kampala Development,” he said.

Muruli on Tuesday also met with Musisi in a closed door meeting but no details of the meeting were revealed. Since the inception of Kampala Capital City Authority, the city has had three ministers, Beatrice Wabudenya, Kabakumba Masiko and the most recently appointed Muruli.

Lukwago however told the press that a lot of issues concerning the development of the city and providing services to the people were discussed.

“We discussed issues concerning the building of the institution, it was an informal talk. Despite the political differences in the institution we need to know how to build the institution,” Lukwago said.

He said there is need to come to a consensus on the key issues affecting the city.

Lukwago who was hesitant to reveal the details of the meeting said they had agreed with the minister to organize the next meeting which will involve the urban mayors and Kampala Members of Parliament.

Issues like Uganda Taxi operators and Drivers Association and the Budget committees on roads, funds for garbage and others were also hinted on.
