7 perish in Luweero bus accident

Atleast seven people perished and several others sustained injuries in a bus accident along Bombo-Gulu highway.

Atleast seven people perished and several others sustained injuries when a Kampala-bound bus from Lira rammed into a stationed lorry at Kalule along Bombo-Gulu highway.

Five died on spot while two died upon arrival at Mulago Referral hospital in Kampala.

The Monday morning tragedy occurred at about 4:45am when a Gaagaa bus from Lira hit a parked lorry.

Among the dead are Susan Akello, Betty Dora both prison officers and Emmanuel Lwanga a police officer who was guarding the stationed lorry.

The causalities at Mulago hospital include; Moses Ayo, Kanta Ajok, George Oculi, Bosco Odida, Christine Lakuru, Joan Kia and Shadrack Bisaso among others.


Meanwhile, Richard Drasimaku and Benedict Okethwengu report that  the transport licensing board in the ministry of Works and transport has indefinitely suspended operating license of the Gaagaa bus services.

Consequently, all Gaagaa buses were ordered to be grounded. They They will be inspected during the period of suspension and their drivers taken for re-tested.
